One of the world’s leading tenors and the Southwold-based pianist and composer with a burgeoning international profile: James Gilchrist and Nathan Williamson’s unique artistic partnership is leading to both new works and new interpretations of classic song repertoire.
In this tremendously diverse programme, ground-breaking song cycles by Fauré and Tippett are featured alongside lighter works by Poulenc, Gurney and Holst, and Nathan Williamson’s new song cycle, The little that was once a man, which was written especially for James. Later this year Nathan and James begin a cycle of three CDs of British song for the distinguished label SOMM Recordings.
